The Stroboscopic Graffiti Machine
The Stroboscopic Graffiti Machine is a custom-built, experimental photographic system that uses specialized projector flashes in combination with coordinate-based camera positions to “stamp” intentionally highlighted regions of a subject onto the camera’s sensor.
The resulting photographs occupy a space between photography, collage, and performance. Light becomes a kind of mark-making tool, while the camera’s movement produces repeated, fragmented, and layered forms across the frame. By controlling the timing and spatial relationship of the flashes, the machine turns the photographic exposure into a programmable canvas—using time, motion, and light to construct images that could not be perceived in the same way by the naked eye.
